Tanser looking to make mark

-

HE comes from Blackpool and has plenty of Scottish relations. Now Scott Tanser is looking to make his mark in Scottish football.

The left-back was out of contract when released by Port Vale at the end of last season and has already played in the Europa League away to FK Trakai and also i n t he home friendly win over Sunderland.

“It has been a whirlwind start for me,” said Scott.

“I’m used to being i n Scotland as my dad i s Scottish and I have aunts and uncles in Glasgow.

“I’ve been up here a lot but St Johnstone is the only Scottish club I’ve played for and I am looking forward to the coming season.

“It’s been great so far and I’m glad I decided to sign for Saints.

“After parting company with Port Vale I was waiting around to see what came up.

“I had nothing set in stone in the way of offers but as soon as I heard of St Johnstone’s interest I knew I could not pass up the opportunity of playing for them.

“I’m delighted at t he set-up at McDiarmid and playing i n t he Scottish Premiership is different to playing in League Two in England as I would be if I was still at Port Vale.

“I’ve signed for a year and I’m grateful that Saints manager Tommy Wright has put his trust in me.

“Tommy has been really excellent for me and he’s given me confidence. Now I aim to repay the faith he has shown in me.”

Scott will be jousting with Brian Easton for the left-back berth.

Easton i s on the way back from injury and may play i n the Perth side’s game at East Fife on Saturday (noon).

Meanwhile, Saints are being linked with Hearts forward Conor Sammon.
