ROUND-UP Scots in super form against French squad

-

FOLLOWING their three games against Russia, with two defeats and one win, the Scottish ladies senior squad had a three game series against France at the National Hockey Centre in Glasgow.

Having had a 4-1 win in the opening game, the second game saw the Scots win 4-0 — and they had chances to score more. They won the third match by the same score to record an emphatic series victory.

In the second game, Millie Brown opened the scoring in the 10th minute from a move set up by Heather Howie and Katie Robertson.

Two minutes later, Nikki Lloyd netted a penalty and Bex Condie made it three.

The second half brought only one goal, from Sarah Robertson, though the French defence was under almost constant pressure.

Credit must go to France keeper Josephine Hermant for some fine saves.

The ladies had a third win over France yesterday.

Gordon Shepherd, the Scotland women’s coach, will be satisfied to complete his preparations for the European Nations Championships next month with another 4-0 success, though it could be said the Scots should have scored more often considering their almost total dominance.
