Broughty hope to make it a hat-trick

- BY JUNICUS

BROUGHTY made it two Super League wins on the bounce when they followed their opening day win over Sauchie with a 3-1 win over Forfar WE.

West End made them fight all the way and it took two goals in the last 15 minutes to seal the victory.

A header from Kevin Milne gave the Fed a first half lead but West End equalised through player-manager Darryl McKenzie.

It could have gone either way but it was the Fed who edged the points with two goals in the last 15 minutes from Paul McLellan, the second a penalty.

They now face Kennoway away. Stand-in manager Jamie McCunnie will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins.

West End are away to Hill Of Beath. They are sweating on the fitness of one or two players.

Lochee United picked up their first three points when a surge of second half goals at Carnoustie saw them blitz the Gowfers 5-0.

There was little between the sides in a goalless first half but Scott McComiskie opened the scoring in 54 minutes.

A header from Bryan Deasley made it two in 67 minutes, then Carnoustie’s Sam Simpson was sent off.

Deasley scored his second from a penalty i n 76 minutes, then Jamie Montgomery and Danny Miller netted two more in the final 10 minutes.

The Bluebells head for Sauchie tomorrow and manager George Shields is unlikely to show too many changes from the side that demolished Carnoustie.

He will, however, be minus Paul Lunan, Kevin Buchan and Craig Smith with knee injuries and Reece Ritchie is also out.

After defeats in their opening two matches, Carnoustie will be out to break their duck against Broxburn Athletic at Laing Park.

Manager Alan McSkimming will be without Steven Cook, Ryan Roche, Robert Urquhart and Liam Scott who are all injured and the unavailable Luke McGeehan.

Jeanfield Swifts, who face Bo’ness at home, have Daniel Kelly back from a ban but are without Benn Blyth and Mark Duigan.
