Tayport hit back in spectacular fashion

-

LAST Saturday, Tayport were down after losing 6-2 at Musselburgh in the Premier League but Charlie King’s side came from behind to beat Glenrothes by a similar scoreline on Wednesday.

The visitors took the lead after just two minutes but Tayport hit back to lead 3-1 through Jamie Mackie and a double from Dale Reid.

Gary Sutherland extended their lead and, although Glens pulled one back, Sutherland netted again and Marc Ogg made it six after both sides had a player red carded.

Next up for Tayport is a home game against Dunbar.

Defeats in their first two matches wasn’t the start Downfield were looking for.

A goal in each half gave Kirrie victory on Wednesday, the first scored by Jonny Snowdon then Stewart Russell sealed the points. The Spiders face Tranent at home tomorrow.

Kirrie boss Jim Finlayson is anticipating a difficult game against visitors Fauldhouse.

Finlayson has one or two coming back from injury. The club have placed Adam O’Connor on the transfer list. Interested parties contact Wilson Cooper (07871 542738).

St Andrews won against Thornton in midweek and hope to build on that when they again have home advantage with Haddington their visitors.

Boss Craig Morrison has one two players nursing injuries and Liam McDaid is unavailable.
