Grange match is vital to Lichties’ title claim

- By EXTRA COVER

TOMORROW sees most of the Tayside and Fife sides heading for Edinburgh in the Cricket Scotland Eastern Premier Division.

Arbroath, Forfarshire, Falkland and Aberdeenshire all made their way to the capital.

The most important game is the Arbroath-Grange clash at Portgower Place.

The two sides are battling for the title with Arbroath holding a decent lead.

However, if Grange were to win, it would set up an exciting and nervous final two weeks of the season.

The Lichties were frustrated by the weather last week while Grange defeated SMRH to boost their points total. John Blain has been taking wickets for the Edinburgh outfit, so Arbroath’s batting line-up will have to be at their best. Brendan Ford and Elton Willemse are their potential match winners.

Forfarshire face a tricky trip to Carlton but look stronger with a couple of players returning.

Chris Greaves and Craig Wallace will be Forfarshire’s best hopes of victory, while Michael Herdman and Fraser Watts have been Carlton’s top performers.

Falkland got their first league win last week against Aberdeenshire to give themselves a faint hope of avoiding relegation. They will be hard pushed, however, to record a win at Heriot’s.

Aberdeenshire’s woes have seen them slip to third bottom but they should be too strong for SMRH at Inverleith.

The final game in the division sees Glenrothes have home advantage over inconsistent Watsonians who have been disappointing.

Packed with match winners, Watsonians are a match for anyone on their day and boast probably the best bowling line-up i n the country. Depending on how the Glens batsmen perform, this game could go either way.

In the Western Premier Division, Prestwick should be too good for Greenock at the Henry Thow Oval. Ferguslie face a tough trip to face Dumfries, Clydesdale are at home to Ayr and East Kilbride at home to Poloc.
