Daly: Hearts job appealing role
HEARTS caretaker boss Jon Daly feels the size and potential of the club has been highlighted after the likes of Steve McClaren were linked with the managerial vacancy.
The former England boss is reported to be on the shortlist to replace I an Cathro while famous names such as Edgar Davids and Fabrizio Ravanelli have also been linked.
Daly said: “It shows it’s a massive football club.
“It doesn’t surprise me there are some experienced managers putting t heir names in. I’d imagine there are managers who have jobs that would love this job as well.
“You are going to have big names putting their name i n because it’s a fantastic club with a good squad, a good fan base, a new stand that is going to make the stadium even more appealing to play in.
“I thought the stadium was one of the best I had played in, the atmosphere was always electric. I can only imagine what it’s going to be like now.
“All the structure behind the club points t o big names going in for it. I can see why it’s it an appealing role.”
Daly will take charge of tomorrow’s Premiership encounter at Kilmarnock but the 34-year-old has not been given any indication of the time frame for a new appointment.
And t he club’s U/20s coach has also not been told whether the club are now looking for an experienced candidate.
“That’s a question for people that are a lot higher up the chain than me,” he said.
“I have been told to look after the first team at the moment and that’s what I am really enjoying doing.”
