Evening Telegraph (First Edition)
Entertainment galore lined up for Perth venues
PERTH audiences can enjoy performers ranging from comedian Jimmy Carr to the dancers of the Russian State Ballet over the coming months.
The new autumn/winter brochure revealing the season’s offerings in Perth Concert Hall — and the soon to be reopened Perth Theatre — has just been launched. While the concert hall ably hosted the pantomime as Perth Theatre was refurbished, traditionalists will be glad to see that Aladdin is back in its rightful home on the restored main stage of the historic theatre.
Classical highlights at the concert hall include regular favourites, Perth Piano Sundays, lunchtime concerts and Perth Concert Series. Ryedale Festival Opera brings a fully staged version of Mozart’s tale of intrigue, La Finta Giardiniera, to Perth Concert Hall while Nicola Benedetti and Friends will play string quartets by Beethoven and Shostakovich.
The St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will perform the music of Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov.
Scottish live acts will include Highland band Skipinnish, and a pre-Hogmanay party from hometown country rockers Red Pine Timber Co.
The Billy Fury Story, the Ultimate Eagles and the Simon and Garfunkel Story will rekindle some musical memories, and Lulu will deliver all the hits from her lengthy career. Jimmy Carr and Jon Richardson play it for laughs and Perth Film Society presents a season of films from home and abroad.
The new brochure is available now from Perth Concert Hall. More information is available from Horsecross Arts box office on 01738 621031.
