New signing plays a major part

-

DRYBURGH Athletic Girls U/17s put in a polished performance to head home from Dunfermline with all three points.

In their first league game after the summer break, the 17s were in top form with new signing Brodie Clark extremely instrumental in all their good play.

Katie Shaw had a fantastic opportunity in the first 10 minutes to give Dryburgh an early lead but just snatched at her effort in front of goal.

However, just a few minutes later, she made amends and finished off a great attacking move with a classy finish.

The game flowed endto-end with both sides creating chances. However, it was Dryburgh who led 1-0 at the break.

They came out of the traps after half-time and dominated proceedings with Nyla Murphy and Alana Ramage both going close to increasing the lead.

With Dryburgh piling on the pressure and the scoreline still finely poised at 1-0, the Dundee side ran the risk of suffering a breakaway goal — and that’s exactly what happening on the hour mark.

This, however, only galvanised the Dryburgh girls and they soon went back i n front with a fantastic right-foot strike from Ramage.

There was then a frantic finish to the game with both sides going close but Dryburgh ran out deserved 2-1 winners in what was a very entertaining contest.

On this performance, Dryburgh showed just how far they’ve come over the last few seasons against one of the region’s top sides.

Meanwhile, Dryburgh U/12s contested a thrilling 11-goal game versus Jeanfield 13s with the Perth side edging it 6-5. Kiara Moran (3), Teighan Milne and Sophie McFadyen the scorers.
