Plan for pub-restaurant moves forward

-

PLANS for a 190-seat pubrestaurant in Dundee have taken another step forward after being granted an alcohol licence.

The Fulton Road development, which was approved in April, will also include only the second drive-thru Starbucks coffee shop in Scotland.

The restaurant, to be run by Marston’s, will be built at the entrance to the city’s Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate off Kingsway West.

City Square establishment Italian Grill was also granted a licence to sell alcohol to patrons using its outside seating area. A spokesman for the Italian Grill said the restaurant was looking to make use of its outside space during all types of weather using a temporary covering tent. There were concerns over the ease by which customers may be able to take drinks away from the premises.

The board approved the licence with the condition that a member of staff must be outside at all times to monitor customers. The board also recommended the restaurant should only be allowed to serve alcohol outside if it is ordered alongside food.

Henry’s Kitchen on the Nethergate will also now be able to sell alcohol both on and off premises, as will Dundee United’s hospitality section at Tannadice.

Elsewhere, the Meat House Bar & Grill was given the goahead to extend its capacity from 115 to 155.
