Lochee tails are up for Linlithgow trip

- BY JUNICUS

LOCHEE United head into their clash with Linlithgow tomorrow with their unbeaten record intact following their 1-0 midweek win over Broughty Athletic.

Both sides went into the derby with unbeaten runs in their first three games but it was the Bluebells who came out on top thanks to Aaron Whitehead’s 19th-minute winner.

For their match against Linlithgow, manager George Shields will still be without a few players.

Kevin Buchan, Craig Smith, Mark Fotheringham and Reece Ritchie are all out but, on the plus side, Paul Lunan returns to the squad.

Broughty were a bit disappointed they didn’t take something from Wednesday’s match.

They felt they had the better chances, particularly in the second half, and caretaker manager Jamie McCunnie will look to get them back in the winning way against Jeanfield at Whitton Park.

Swifts are looking to atone Wednesday’s collapse at Kennoway where they chucked away a two-goal lead to draw and finished with nine men.

After losing their first two matches, Carnoustie have hit back with wins in the last couple of outings.

They came out on top in Wednesday’s Angus derby, defeating Forfar WE 2-0.

Marc Walker and Sam Simpson, from a penalty, were on target for the Gowfers.

Manager Alan McSkimming is unlikely to make many changes for tomorrow’s trip to Newtongrange.

West End, meanwhile, hope to bounce back when they entertain Dundonald.

Unfortunately, there has been no home comfort for Darryl McKenzie’s men, who have yet to register a goal, never mind a point, from their two games at Strathmore Park.
