- BY BRYAN COPLAND

Nearly £1.5 million of work is proposed in several communities including Linlathen, Douglas, St Mary’s and Happyhillock.

One councillor has described it as a “massive programme of work”.

Work will take place in October on the roofs of 18 flats in Craigmount Road, where the coverings will be replaced. Operations could also commence in October on the renewal of roof coverings for properties in East Haddon Road, Crombie Terrace and Dean Avenue.

In Douglas, work will take place to replace roof coverings on 18 properties in Balmedie Drive.

Meanwhile, it’s planned to renew the roofs of 32 flats at Hamilton Street and Strathmore Street.

The plans also include the delivery of parking improvements in Fintry, such as the construction of a new 15-space car park on the site of former lock-up garages in Fintry Crescent.

A further 18 homes in Douglas Road will also have roof work completed from next month.

There are plans for new windows on 94 flats in Happyhillock Road and Happyhillock Walk, as well as 48 flats and cottages in Balbeggie Terrace, Balunie Avenue, Baluniefield Road, Balmoral Gardens, Balmoral Terrace and Balunie Drive.

Double glazing will also be installed to properties in Darvel Place, Linlathen, and St Mary Street.

The plans will go to councillors for approval tonight.

Councillor Kevin Cordell, neighbourhood services convener, said: “This really is a massive programme of work that we are looking to carry out.

“It’s fantastic to see these major improvements to homes across the city which ensures that people are living in houses that are fit for the 21st Century.”

RESIDENTS across Dundee could be set to benefit from work on their homes if plans are approved by councillors tonight.
