Repair grants on offer
A LEADING Dundee conservation body is calling on property owners and factors in Dundee city centre to take advantage of substantial grants available for the restoration and repair of historic buildings.
Dundee Historic Environment Trust (DHET) recently awarded 40% of the eligible costs for major repairs to Royal Apartments in the city’s Union Street — a project which had a total investment of £400,000.
It is now seeking new city centre projects to which it can contribute for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
DHET director Adam Swan is keen to highlight the availability of t he money, especially at such an exciting ti me for Dundee.
He said: “People have told us how i mpressed they are with the improvement to the former Royal Hotel building which is on one of the major routes between the city centre and the new V&A museum of design development.
“There are a number of buildings in need of a little love and attention.
“That’s why we’re asking building owners, architects and factors who are responsible for buildings in the city centre in need of reuse and repair to check if they are eligible for our financial assistance.”
