Cost of baby box is drop in the ocean
I WRITE in response to Economist regarding the baby box “lavish in extreme” letter.
The baby box cost to Scotland’s tax payers per year is £4.
Other annual costs for Scotland’s tax payers are Trident £269, Brexit £5,333 (estimate), HS2 £2,201, Westminster refurbishment £276, general election £5,65 and DUP deal £59, to name a few.
The baby box initiative was launched after years of research that shows cot death can be reduced.
Surely you being an economist must see the value of what £4 a year brings?
The others bring zero value to Scotland.
RoV NelSie.
REGARDING the letter by Economist — if they had any grasp on the reality of the economy they would know £8 million is a drop in the ocean of the Scottish finances.
To give every child in Scotland a gift to start life is a great gesture — and well needed.
Bear in mind we spend nearly the same amount maintaining outdated telephone boxes that no one uses apart from the odd drunk caught short on the way home.
This sounds like another excuse for a dig at the SNP.
Stop thinking of your own wee world for a change.
Nye Noith.
