Unbeaten run is boost for Saints
ST JOHNSTONE know they face a massive task on Saturday when they go to Parkhead to face a Celtic side unbeaten in the Premiership since Brendan Rodgers became their manager.
However, the Perth men are buoyed by the fact they have won all three of their league matches so far, a 2-1 win at Kilmarnock being followed by a 4-1 home success over Motherwell and a 1-0 McDiarmid Park victory against Par tick Thistle.
As he prepared for the Celtic game, Saints experienced left-back Brian Easton said: “We will do our best to get at Celtic.
“There is no doubt this will be a very tough match for us but we hope we can ruin their good run.
“We were the last team to beat Celtic in the Premiership so have proved we can do it.”
Brian added:“Nine points from our first three games is a really positive start but we’re not getting above ourselves.
“The league will be tight and there is a long way to go.
“We p l ay e d w e l l beating Partick.
“They defeated us at Perth in the Betfred Cup but we watched a video of that game before playing them in the league and we learned from that defeat.”
Saints team boss Tommy Wright felt his team “kept the ball well” against Partick and t h a t ’s something they will have to repeat against Celtic.
“We were very good in possession and, hopefully, that will continue,” he said.
“We scored a good team goal and kept a clean sheet against Partick.
“Our centre halves got on the ball and used it well as was evidenced by our goal when a lovely Steven Anderson pass set up Michael O’Halloran to score.” in
