THE door of a Dundee library has been nominated as one of the best of its kind in Scotland.

To celebrate the launch of Doors Open Days 2017 and its own 50th anniversar­y, the Scottish Civic Trust has invited writers, artists, architects, academics and members of the public to nominate their favourite Scottish door.

The door of Blackness Library i n Dundee is among the nomination­s, which i ncludes entries from Aberdeen, Glasgow and the Isle of Skye.

Laura Gray, of Lochee, was told last year that she had stage one, grade three, triple negative breast cancer.

When she was given the devastatin­g diagnosis that her cancer was incurable, she said one of the hardest things she had to do was tell her little girls — Hannah, 6, and Holly, 4, — she wasn’t well.

Laura and her partner Luke Power are trying to raise £6,000 for a special family holiday to Disneyland Paris.

As the couple — who have been together for nine years — plan the dream trip, Laura today revealed she has received another bit of good news.

Celebratin­g her 28th birthday quietly at home with her family, Luke got down on one knee and proposed to her.

Laura said: “I was totally shocked and surprised. I never ever thought we would get married — but I said yes.”

Since being told by her daughters that they would love to go on a holiday to Disneyland, Laura and Luke have been trying to raise money for the trip.

They have been overwhelme­d by support from people all over Dundee since their story appeared in the Tele.

Laura added: “Thanks to the efforts of so many people we reckon that in just a couple of weeks almost £7,000 has been raised.

“That means we can book our holiday but it also means we will have enough money to go towards a wedding.

“The support has been overwhelmi­ng and we are so grateful.
