£260,000 improvement works for Brechin bypass
A SECTION of the A90 Brechin bypass is set to benefit from £260,000 of improvement works starting next week.
It will address defects in the road and create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
The works, which start on Monday, will be carried out over nine consecutive days.
This will involve isolated repairs to the concrete surface of both the northbound and southbound carriageways.
The improvements will be carried out under two contraflows to ensure that teams as well as motorists are kept safe.
The works will start with a contraflow in place on the southbound carriageway, before it is then switched to the northbound carriageway from Friday September 8. The scheme is due to be completed by Wednesday September 13.
Both contraflows will have a 50mph restriction in place for the duration of the road improvements.
Due to the location of the contraflow, the B966 slip roads will be closed with a signed diversion for motorists. Traffic will be diverted to either the Stracathro junction or to the A935 Brechin junction where motorists will be able to return to the B966.
Andy Thompson, Bear Scotland’s north-east representative, said: “Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date journey information and leave extra time to reach their destination.”
