Hilltown are still in red-hot form

HILLTOWN continue to lead the way i n the Dundee Saturday Morning League Doc Ferry’s Premier Division as they attempt to defend their title.

They made it three wins on the spin with a 1-0 victory over likely contenders Doc’s Hibs.

Hawkhill have also started their campaign well with three wins out of four, topped off on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Dryburgh. This followed a 2-1 success against DUSC in midweek.

DC Athletic bounced back from their cup exit to earn a 6-4 win over Park Tool while DUSC split the points with FC Kettledrum in a 3-3 draw.

Kettledrum got their first points of the season earlier in the week with a 5-3 win over Fintry Athletic.

In the Balgay Bar First Division, Ferry Mechanics remain unbeaten having seen off Monifieth Hurricanes 3-1 on Saturday then drawing 2-2 with Stobswell FC in midweek.

Game of the week, though, was between St James and FC Menzieshil­l who already look like the two teams to contend for the title, with St James winning 1-0.

Cairdy Thistle are in second spot with a two out of three record, their 9-1 win over Charleston surprising the pundits as Charleston were tipped as promotion contenders.

They did bounce back with a 6-2 victory at the weekend over The Beat.

Cannon Fodder made it two wins on the spin with 3-1 wins over The Beat and Club 83.

James Gallagher opened the scoring in 70 minutes for Fodder against The Beat with Lennon Brett adding a second soon after.

Mark McCabe reduced the deficit before Jamie Wallace made it 3-1.

At the weekend, Fodder were again slow out of the blocks, scoring late against Club 83, Jamie Wallace and Craig Stewart netted before Club 83 scored through Ryan Whyte.

Darren Smart hit back almost from the restart to wrap up the points.

Charlies Accies lead the way in the Trident Trophies Second Division after a 4-3 win over Boars Rock and a 6 -1 victory over Occidental.

Result of the week, though, was Dundee City’s 6-5 victory over Bank Street Athletic. They held on well to secure three points.

Cleppy Social got their first win of the campaign, 5-1 over Fife Thistle B.

FC Boukir bounced back from their midweek cup disappoint­ment with a 7-2 win over Stobswell who had two sent off.
