but not after risking a penalty by grabbing Glass.

United were furious and felt they had been denied a spot-kick.

Tempers flared again before the break as Harvey Dailly and Spence flew into a tackle with the Dundee man booked.

Despite the fiery end to the first half, the second 45 was a slow burner, with chances few and far between.

On 65 minutes, Chalmers was sent through by Archie Thomas on the left of the box and his low shot was well-saved by Ferrie.

Then, on 73 minutes, Dundee should have wrapped up the win. Wolters fired in a shot that was pushed out by Josh Donaldson, Lambert was following up but couldn’t get his second of the game as his header bounced back off the crossbar.

With just three minutes to go, United were looking for a leveller and almost got it as substitute Dominic McMeekin brought a good save from Ferrie.

Then, in the final minute, Spence found himself through on goal, rounded the onrushing keeper but put the ball wide from 30 yards.

In the end it didn’t matter as the Dark Blues took the youth team bragging rights.
