Wotherspoon is pleased at start
WITH 10 points from their first four Premiership matches, St Johnstone have made a solid start.
Wins over Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Partick Thistle have been followed by a tenacious divide away to Celtic.
Saints sit third i n the table, two points adrift of leaders Aberdeen and kept off second by Celtic only on goal difference.
Midfield man David Wotherspoon said: “It has been a good start and we are playing with confidence. And I’ m enjoying my football.”
David started with Saints as a teenager but then moved to Celtic and Hibs before ending up back at McDiarmid Park.
A Saints supporter, he now has Stefan Scougall in the middle of the park with him — and it’s a partnership he is relishing.
Wotherspoon added: “Stefan is brilliant to play alongside. He’s a great passer of the ball and has started well with us.
“He is getting his sharpness and is proving to be a big asset to us.”
Saints hope their most recent signing, Denny Johnstone, on loan from Colchester United, will also turn out t o be a good addition.
He made his top-team bow as a late substitute in the 1-1 divide away to Celtic on Saturday and netted his first goals for the Perth club when he scored twice at home to Partick Thistle last night i n a Development League game.
Craig Thomson also netted twice as Saints won 4-2.
Saints fielded six teenagers in their starting line-up with Chris Millar the only player with extensive first-team experience.
Apart from Johnstone, Thomson and Millar the only other players with top team experience were Ally Gilchrist and Euan O’Reilly.
