Glimpse into the past on offer
TAYSIDERS are being invited to discover something new about the old ways when Angus Heritage Week gets under way tomorrow.
This year’s event, which runs until September 10, features several events highlighting the vast diversity of the county’s history and traditions such as an apple harvest day.
Guided walks through the streets of Kirriemuir and Glamis will take place throughout the week, providing opportunities to discover the fascinating stories behind some of the historic buildings that add so much charm to the towns and villages of Angus.
Other highlights include a special opening of the William Lamb Studio in Montrose on Saturday, a heritage tour of Hospitalfield House on Wednesday and a talk by Dr Helen Pierce of t he University of Aberdeen at Hospitalfield on Thursday September 7.
Angus Council’s economic development spokesman Councillor Ron Sturrock said: “As we approach the final months of Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, Angus Heritage Week will shine a light on so many of the different aspects of our county’s history, both modern and from the distant past.”
