Plans step up a gear
New images of proposed dealership are unveiled
NEW 3D images have revealed a performance car dealer’s plans to revamp its Angus showroom.
Augustus Autos, which is based in the Barry area, near Carnoustie, has lodged plans for a new showroom and associated works.
The company has applied to Angus Council for permission to renovate its current premises at Gowanlea, Station Road, into a new showroom.
If given the green light, the specialist and performance car dealer would operate from the new 2,693 sq m facility.
The 3D images show the group’s plans for the showroom, which include a main building with a mezzanine floor as well as an outdoor area.
The site would feature a showroom area, valet area, washing area and different sales areas.
Existing access to the building would be maintained if council chiefs approve the development.
The planning application shows that Augustus Autos intends to incorporate areas to store and aid the collection of waste, including recycling, in line with local authority guidelines.
Angus Council acknowledged the application yesterday and it is expected to go before planning chiefs in the coming weeks.
Council bosses have told the agents for Augustus Autos, Brunton Design Studio, to expect a determination within two months of registration.
Neighbouring businesses have been notified of the plans.
Self-confessed “petrol head” Steven Brown opened Augustus Autos in 2012 with a business plan to become one of the best independent garages in the country, offering specialist and performance cars.

Earlier this year, a multimillionpound car dealership built on the site of Dundee’s historic Valentines card factory opened its doors.
Peter Vardy Group spent more than £7 million redeveloping the brownfield site at Dunsinane Industrial Estate.
Augustus Autos and Brunton Design Studio have been asked to comment but had not responded at the time of going to press.
