Dryburgh teams play some lovely football

DRYBURGH Athletic Girls U/10s and U/11s teams had a great morning’s football in Dunfermlin­e at the latest East Region 11s festival.

Coaches Garry Urquhart, Fiona Ramsay, Alan Paterson, Reece Watt and Kirsty Oliphant were pleased with the game time the girls got to help continue their progress this season.

Meanwhile, Dryburgh U/12s played some great stuff in a 9-0 away win at Dundee East with Kiara Moran (4), Teighan Milne (3), Sophie McFadyen and Katie Shaw the scorers.

Coaches Sandy McWilliam and Bruce Johnstone were delighted to see the girls put in a fantastic performanc­e.

The U/13s, too, played lovely football in a fine 6-1 win at home to Forfar Farmington with Abigael Lindsay (3), Morgan Airlie, Hannah Marsh and a first Dryburgh goal for new signing Emily Beattie sealing the victory.

The U/13s now have Kirsty Keith and Tom Pople as coaches for the rest of this season.

Kirsty has been working with the clubs 15s in the first half of the season, doing a great job.

She will now concentrat­e on readying this talented 13s squad for the step up to 11-a-side football next season.

Dryburgh 15s picked up a welldeserv­ed point in a hard fought 1-1 draw against a talented East Fife at South Road.

Full-back Grace Forrester had given Dryburgh an early lead only to see East Fife level the game before the break.

Both sides had chances late on to win but it finished l evel with a draw probably a fair result.

Dryburgh 17s girls lost 2-1 to Forfar Farmington, also at South Road.

Both sides served up an end-to-end match with Nyla Murphy (Dryburgh) and Phillipa McCallum and Neve Guthrie (Farmington) the scorers.
