Savings will cover cost of baby boxes

-

YOUR correspondent Economist seems very concerned for multi national corporations.

He/she mentioned Mothercare, which was owned by British Home Stores, which was owned by billionaire Sir Philip Green, who ripped off his staffs’ pensions — yet Economist doesn’t seem to be in favour of charities.

The baby boxes are nothing like a pram and the letter writer should educate him or herself about what the baby box does contain.

Receiving one is not compulsory, no one is forced to take one.

You have to register and if you don’t require one, don’t take it.

Besides it’s all good. With the savings made building the new Queenferry Crossing (pictured), the baby box cost is covered for the next 30 years.

Rod Selbie.

HAVING read the letter about the free baby boxes, I don’t think Economist understands the theory behind them.

The country that they use them in uses them because they have shown to reduce the number of cot deaths.

I find it ridiculous Economist thinks women are going to get pregnant just to get one of these free boxes.

Does this person not know somewhere for a baby to sleep is only a small cost compared to all the other things that need to be bought? As far as I can see this is just another dig at something good the SNP is trying to do.

A. Easton.
