Banks’ major role in Coupar’s first win

-

COUPAR Angus celebrated their first win of the season with an excellent 3-1 EoS Cup victory at Rosyth.

Stuart Banks scored for Coupar after just 30 seconds but that was quickly cancelled out by Stan Chitmere on nine minutes.

However, Banks then went on to complete a his hat trick.

Kirrie Thistle overcame a stuffy Lochee Harp at Westview courtesy of two second-half goals.

Connor McLeod atoned for missing a first-half penalty by firing in the opener 10 minutes after the break and Lee Cameron got the second 10 minutes from the end.

Arbroath Vics put up a spirited showing before going down by the odd goal in three at Hill of Beath. They shocked their Super League hosts when Scott Donald gave them a 12th-minute lead.

However, Lee Bryce equalised for Haws 15 minutes later and scored the winner a minute after the restart.

Though quite understrength, Luncarty posted a convincing 4-0 win over South League visitors Stoneyburn.

A goal from player/boss Jon Kelly gave them an interval lead, with Bally Whytock and a double from Keiran Donald the other counters.

St Andrews lost 5-1 at home to Musselburgh. Scott Orrock scored for the Fifers.

RESULT of the week — It has to be EAST CRAIGIE’S terrific 4-1 win at Broughty Athletic in the EoS Cup.
