AN “institutionalised” criminal has been jailed for 13 months.

Appearing at the city’s sheriff court, Hodge admitted breaching community payback and restriction of liberty orders as well as shoplifting and other offences.

He admitted stealing a quantity of spectacles at Boots Opticians, Panmure Street, on January 26, and giving false details to police in an attempt to pervert the course of justice at B&M Stores, Wellgate Centre, on the same date, while on bail.

Hodge also admitted stealing a T-shirt at Blacks, Seagate, on July 24, while on bail, and stealing a football top and possessing cannabis resin at Sports Direct, Overgate Centre, on May 26.

He also admitted stealing sunglasses and keyrings at H&M, High Street, on the same date, all while on bail.

Hodge further admitted entering an insecure car and stealing a document folder and contents at Laird Street on June 23.

Also in Laird Street, he was found in the curtilage of a house i n circumstances where it could be reasonably inferred that he i ntended to commit theft, while on bail.

Sheriff George Way said Hodge was “institutionalised” and was unable to complete communitybased orders.
