Bluebells bounce back to claim win

- BY JUNICUS

LOCHEE United recovered from the loss of an early goal to hit back and claim the points against Dundonald at Thomson Park.

Colin Wilson hooked home from a corner to give the Fifers the lead in six minutes.

However, they were pegged back in 13 minutes when Lochee were awarded a penalty when Scott McComiskie was felled in the box. Bryan Deasley took the spotkick and duly despatched it into the net.

Seven minutes later, the Bluebells took the lead when a fine through ball from Connor Birse found Deasley and his cool finish gave the hosts the advantage.

They then scored a crucial third just on half-time when Birse knocked in a cross at the far post.

Apart from a string of bookings, the second half was a bit of a non-event, with Lochee content to hold on to their lead.

In an eventful game at Kennoway, 10-man Carnoustie came back from 3-1 down to claim a point.

The Gowfers fell behind to a seventh-minute Matty Gay counter and then had defender Adam Harwood sent off in 39 minutes. The home side made them pay when Nathan Doig doubled their advantage just on half-time.

Carnoustie pulled one back 48 minutes through Derek Paterson.

However, 10 minutes later, Gay restored in Kennoway’s two-goal advantage but, in a rousing finish, the Gowfers claimed a point with goals from Paterson and Steven Cook.

Forfar West End’s 1-0 home defeat to Jeanfield leaves them rock bottom.

Lewis Mackie was Swifts’ match-winner with a goal midway through the first half.

Broughty Athletic couldn’t have got off to a better start when Garry Kenneth lashed the ball home for the opener in five minutes against Camelon.

But, in 24 minutes, the Mariners levelled through a Kane shot from the edge of the box and the visitors edged ahead just on the hour mark when a cross from Ryan Lockie was ajudged to have crossed the line.

The home cause wasn’t helped when Kieran McWalter picked up his second yellow card in 77 minutes.
