Finlayson calls it a day as boss of Kirrie

-

JIM Finlayson has resigned as boss of Kirrie Thistle.

The news comes in the wake of Kirrie’s 3-1 Premier League defeat at Tranent on Saturday.

Tayport, meanwhile, were left frustrated after conceding two late goals at Blackburn.

Dale Reid gave the Fifers the lead midway through the first half and it looked like proving to be the winner but disaster struck. With three minutes remaining, Andy McQuillan turned in the leveller then the heartbreak was complete when Brian Ross netted a winner for the hosts in the 90th minute.

Although they went down 3-0 at Haddington, Downfield were never out of the game and it took two late goals to finally kill them off.

A header from Bob Berry gave Haddington a first-half lead and two late goals from Andy Jones sealed the points.

St Andrews United became the first side to take points off leaders Fauldhouse after the sides shared six goals at Barnetts Park.

But, having been 3-1 up at the break, Saints boss Craig Morrison was disappointed they didn’t win. Though Fauldhouse took the lead, Saints hit back through Scott Orrock, Derek Wallace and Liam McDaid, only for ‘The Hoose’ to preserve their unbeaten run with two second-half goals.

RESULT of the week — VIOLET continued their decent start to the season with a 2-1 win over Lochee Harp.
