Result OK but Saints boss unhappy with showing

-

ST JOHNSTONE manager Tommy Wright was “happy to get a point against Hibs but not happy with the performance.”

The Perth men have won three games and drawn t wo i n the Ladbrokes Premiership with Michael O’Halloran giving them the lead against Hibs only for a Paul Paton own goal to level things up.

Tommy added: “We played well for the first 20 minutes but struggled after that. Our ball retention and decision making wasn’t what it should be. However, we showed character and defended well.

“Not many teams would’ve gotten a point out of that but we dug out a result and scored a decent goal.

“We were too deep at times and didn’t do our jobs.

“However, we are still unbeaten and that should lift us.”

Murray Davidson was taken off at half-time and Tommy stated: “He said before the game he was OK but then has to come off after 45 minutes. I’m not happy at that.”

His replacement, Liam Craig, the same player who replaced Davidson when the former Livingston player was concussed at Celtic two weeks ago, set up Saints’ goal two minutes after coming on, O’Halloran scoring at the far post.

However, on the hour mark, ex-Arbroath and Dundee United forward Simon Murray crossed and Anthony Stokes saw his shot turned into his own net by Paul Paton.

Stefan Scougall played with a bandage on his head after receiving a cut during the week.

Blair Alston missed out due to injury and it will be later in the week before it’s known if he will be OK to face Dundee at Dens on Saturday.
