Dundee cadets at ceremony

sEA Cadets from Dundee took centre stage at the official naming ceremony of the Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier.

About 90 cadets were at the special event to christen the HMs prince of Wales in the presence of prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Cadets and volunteers from fife and tayside, inverness, grangemout­h, Musselburg­h, Queensferr­y, Dunbar and Campbeltow­n were also in attendance at the “historic event”.

A sea Cadets band was also on hand t o perform for the 500 Vips as they arrived for their passes.

the hour-long ceremony took place in Rosyth, with the ship due to be floated out next spring.

Captain peter Adams RN (Rtd), northern area officer for the sea Cadets, said: “Well done to all the cadets and volunteers involved in this historic event, both on the day and in preparing beforehand.

“they are a credit to us and to their respective units.”
