Menzieshill Dundonian stirs memories

-

THE Dundonian about Menzieshill featured a 1965 picture of me and my late mum at the bus stop on Charleston Drive. I was 4 and we were one of the first families to live in the tenements in Forth Crescent, having moved from a garrett in Tipperary, Lochee.

Unfortunately my mum hated being so far away from Lochee (it wasn’t really, but she thought so) and we moved back into Lochee later that year.

My mum was Betty Cant (married name McConnachie) and she had two sisters, the late Ellen, who also lived in Menzieshill, and Margaret.

The photo brought back a lot of happy memories. It’s also a standing joke in my family that I never smiled till I was 5! Thank you.

Kathleen Craig.

THE woman on the right of the photo at Menzieshill community centre lapidary class is my auntie, Rae Carmichael.

Derek Nicoll.
