Calls for change of direction
COUNCILLORS have called for a proposed one-way system in Cowdenbeath to be reversed to go the other way.
Fife Council plans to introduce a traffic regulation order, which would lead to an anti-clockwise system being brought in at Greenmount.
Transportation said the change is necessary to ensure drivers can manoeuvre safely around the street.
Councillors were told Police Scotland had no issues with the proposal and there was no record of any road accidents at the cul-de-sac.
However, transportation officials have said it is difficult for vehicles to pass each other because of the narrow carriageway.
Local councillor Alistair Bain said: “The residents I spoke to there said they would much prefer it to be the other way. It would be just as easy to go the other way.”
Residents who object to the proposal will be given the chance to make their views known during a consultation.
