Discovery Pro-Am success

PUTTS were sunk and thousands of pounds were raised at an annual charity golf event in aid of a city landmark.

Golfing profession­als teamed up with keen amateurs at Downfield Golf Club i n t he Discovery Pro-Am event.

Now in its second year, the competitio­n raises money for the city’s historic ship, the RRS Discovery.

Event organisers are still collating the final figure from the event, but believe more than £3,000 will be handed over to Dundee Heritage Trust.

Leading the way representi­ng the profession­als were Gareth Wright and Paul O’Hara with a score of 69 and Alastair Forsyth and Graham f ox, who notched up a round of 70.

The winning team were the GS Group, who scored 131.

Organiser Craig Simpson said: “The Discovery Pro-Am was a great event that was really well supported by t he local and business community.

“We are still finalising the total raised.”
