Young Stars are shining brightly

DUNDEE Stars Juniors U/14 and U/16 played their first home games of the season — and they started the way they mean to go on against North Ayrshire.

The U/14s were first to face off and, within two minutes, Gary Kelly fired home their opener.

New signing Darren Donaldson was next to hit the back of the net, his strike being set up by assists from Steven Innes and Jack Hutton.

Ben Brown and Sonny Simpson netted a goal apiece and a second from Donaldson saw the first period end with a 5-0 advantage to Stars.

North Ayr managed to secure a goal early in the second period but there was no chance of a fightback.

However, Alex Gorrie was quick to retaliate with another Stars strike.

The onslaught continued as Rio Page scored a seventh for Stars to close the second stanza at 7-1.

Further markers from Brown and Stephen Scott closed the game with an impressive 9-1 win for Dundee.

Man of the Match was defenceman Jamie Edmonds.

The U/16 game was a fiesty encounter.

Some of Stars’ U/14s played and starred for the older side in what was another success.

It was 0-0 until 10 minutes in when Jamie Edmonds broke the stalemate with an assist from Page.

Another assist from Page saw Dougie Cooper hit the puck home and Jack Terroni netted a third to widen the gap. impressive

North Ayr took advantage of a powerplay situation at the midway point and Zak Kenneth scored their sole goal.

Goals from Dylan Denham, Page and Josh Hamilton made it 6-1 Stars.

The Man of the Match award was won by Dougie Cooper.
