O’Dea’s likely to face Saints

SKIPPER Darren O’Dea is set to return for Dundee’s c r u c i a l Tay s i d e d e r by against St Johnstone on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Irishman hasn’t kicked a ball at firstteam level since injuring a knee i n the defeat at Hamilton just over a month ago.

But he was an unused sub at Rangers last Saturday and got 45 minutes for the second string in the Developmen­t League win over Aberdeen at Links Park last night.

With the rearguard shipping four goals at Ibrox, the i ndications are t he former Celt will be leading the team out at Dens this weekend.

Yesterday’s 4-2 win over the Dons maintained the young Dee’s unbeaten start to their campaign that has put them at the top of the Developmen­t League.

It also left manager Neil McCann will several more options when it comes to his selection for the weekend.

Winger Randy Wolters did his chances of a return to the starting XI for the first time since that Hamilton game no harm.

The 27-year-old summer signing got 90 minutes at Links Park and topped off his display with a goal from long range early i n the second half.

Recently-arrived Spanish defender Jon Aurtenetxe was also given an hour of the action.

His fitness has already impressed Neil McCann and he will provide an option as t he manager looks to tighten up his defence.

Midfielder Mark O’Hara also got 90 minutes under his belt.

As well as Wolters, kids Matty Henvey, with two goals, and Jack Lambert were the men on target for the Dark Blues.
