Man before sheriff

JOSEPH Meakins, 21, of Haymount Park, Cupar, appeared in private before Sheriff Mark Thorley on a petition.

It is alleged he assaulted Craig Duncan, c/o Police Scotland, at the Club Tropicana nightclub in Dundee on July 30 by punching Mr Duncan on the head and knocking him to the ground to his severe injury.

Meakins made no plea and was granted bail and the case was continued for further examination.
