Celebration of women

FIRST Minister Nicola Sturgeon is to take centre stage at a festival being held in Perth which celebrates the achievements of women and girls while examining the factors which may hold them back.

WOW — Women of the World Perth 2017 — will feature Ms Sturgeon as the opening speaker in conversation with WOW founder Jude Kelly.

The programme for the festival features prominent activists, speakers, businesswomen, artists, broadcasters and campaigners including Kirsty Wark, Lesley Riddoch and comedian Luisa Omielan.

The festival will debut in Scotland at Perth Concert Hall over the weekend of October 27-29 and includes talks and debates, music, dance, theatre, performance, poetry and comedy as well as workshops and activities.
