OAP hurt in accident
Emergency services were called to Arklay Street around 4.55pm yesterday, near to its junction with Strathmore Street.
Traffic had to be diverted around the crash area while ambulance and police crews dealt with the incident.
One car — a blue MG ZR — remained on the road for more than an hour until a recovery vehicle arrived and winched the car on to the bed of a truck around 6.10pm.
The other vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Polo, was recovered by the same truck.
Police at the scene removed debris from the road and one officer was seen sweeping glass to the side of the pavement as they waited for the recovery vehicle to arrive.

“I was told the cars had hit head-on going pretty fast. It can be bad there because of the length of the street. You build up speed without realising and the junctions can be difficult to see out of because of parked cars.
“An ambulance came with its blue lights flashing but I think they just gave them both a check over, because it sat for a while — it never took off with the sirens going like it was going to hospital — not while I was there anyway.
“I had to leave for work not long after that. Here’s hoping the drivers are both OK.
“The cars looked like write-offs though.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We got a call at 4.55pm to a road traffic collision between two cars. An elderly female was in one car and was in an accident with another one. She was treated for shock and chest pains but was conscious and breathing.
“The incident took place at the junction at Arklay Street and Strathmore Street and we stood down at 6.15pm.”
