I don’t agree that mums should move

-

I CAN’T say that I agree with the comments by George Craig about the mums who wouldn’t move their prams to let his wheelchair on a bus.

Although I can clearly see his plight — and he should be able to access buses without hassle — I think it’s unfair to pick on mums who were already on the vehicle.

When parents are travelling with young children — many of them with more than one child — it’s nigh on impossible to get around without using a pram.

They’re big, bulky, and they have to go somewhere on the bus and unfortunately that normally means the spaces where wheelchairs also go.

George’s argument was that they should be folded down, but that’s not always easy either, and might not even be an option if you have more than one kid to push around on your own. At the end of the day, the kids need their prams as much as George needs his wheelchair.

The question we should be asking is, can these vehicles be built or laid out in such a way that allows for both parties to travel together?

See both sides.

I DON’T agree with the wheelchair man who expected the young mums to get off the bus so he could get on.

They were obviously travelling from further afield and have every right to stay on the bus to finish the journey they have paid for.

Everyone is equal.
