BRADLEY STILL WELL PLACED TO MOVE UP

- BY JAMES MASSON

BLAIRGOWRIE golfer Bradley Neil lies seventh in the Challenge Tour standings, despite a poor showing in the Irish Challenge at the Mount Wolseley Resort in County Carlow.

He missed the cut with rounds of 82 and 71.

However, he has amassed 66,011 points on the Tour and is still in the top 15 who qualify for the main European Tour next season.

MARC Leishman secured victory at the BMW Championship by five strokes with a composed 67 in the final round in Chicago.

He held off a spirited late challenge from Justin Rose, who produced a fantastic 65 with seven birdies, to finish five strokes in front of Rose and Rickie Fowler.

ROMAIN Wattel tasted victory on the European Tour at the 187th time of asking as he held off the challenge of Kiradech Aphibarnrat at the KLM Open in Spijk, Holland.

A par at the last was enough for the 26-year-old to secure victory with a 15-under total following a closing round of 69.

ANNA Nordqvist came through a sudden-death play-off against Brittany Altomare to win the Evian Championship.

After the final round in France they tied at the top of the leaderboard.

Nordqvist bogeyed the 18th at an extra hole but a double-bogey from Altomare meant it was enough to secure Nordqvist’s win.
