Win at Sauchie has West End on the up

- BY JUNICUS

FORFAR West lifted themselves off the bottom of the Super League with a resounding 3-0 away win over Sauchie.

West End took the lead in 15 minutes, Graeme Hart was their scorer.

They doubled their advantage on the hour mark when David Rae beat the keeper with a strong drive from the edge of the box.

Hart put the icing on the cake after 70 minutes with his second goal of the game to seal the points.

Another fine performance from Lochee United saw them beat Camelon 3-1.

After a fairly even opening half, the Bluebells broke the deadlock just before half-time through Connor Birse.

The Mariners always looked dangerous and levelled in 65 minutes but Scott McComiskie restored Lochee’s advantage in 77 minutes then, just to make sure, Birse scored his second of the day i n 81 minutes.

New Broughty Athletic manager Jim Finlayson must have been less than impressed with what he saw as his side crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Linlithgow.

It was the Fed’s fourth loss in a row and Finlayson knows he has a job on his hands.

They matched the home side for the first 27 minutes but, once Tommy Coyne gave Rose the lead and tapped home another after poor defending five minutes later, the Broughty heads went down.

It came as no surprise when Owen Ronald made it three before half-time and Roddy MacLennan netted No 4 in 80 minutes.

Broughty’s only consolation came late on when Dayle Robertson netted.

Carnoustie’s unbeaten run was brought to a crashing halt by Penicuik, with the league leaders scoring three in the last 15 minutes to seal the points.

Jeanfield put up a stubborn show at Bonnyrigg before late goals led to their demise.

Swifts went in at the break trailing 1-0 but came more into the game in the second half and grabbed a deserved leveller when Christopher Scott headed in at the back post.

However, three goals inside the final 15 minutes gave Bonnyrigg a rather flattering 4-1 win.
