Police probe after man’s body found
Police and paramedics were called to a property in Blackness Road, near the junction with Ashbank Road, on Friday night.
A 32-year-old man found inside the close was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was still a police presence in the street yesterday, although officers believe there was nothing suspicious about the death.
Stuart McTavish, 50, who has lived in Blackness Road for more than 10 years, said he saw the emergency services on the scene just after 10pm.
He said: “I looked out my window and saw three police vehicles and two ambulances — I wondered what had happened.”
Another resident heard a number of voices in the close before seeing paramedics trying to revive a man.
He said: “There was an ambulance positioned on Ashbank Road and another one on Blackness Road.
“I went down the stairs after hearing a lot of voices in the close and saw the paramedics tending to a male.
“There were detectives within the close in the immediate days after the incident — they said a man had died.”
Grant Carpenter, 23, who also lives nearby, said he saw a handful of police units at the scene.
He said: “There was a lot of police movement coming in and out of the building near to the newsagent.
“When I saw the ambulance, I initially thought someone had had an accident — then the police arrived.
“Officers remained on the scene at various places along Blackness Road over the weekend, which I assume has been connected to what happened.”
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that they attended an address in Blackness Road on Friday in relation to the sudden death of a 32-year-old man.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances, and as with all sudden deaths, a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Meanwhile, officers were also called to deal with the sudden death of a 34-yearold man at Adamson Court in Lochee on Thursday.
The spokesman confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
