The game has been organised by local hair salon owner Rhys Davidson, 26, and is in aid of charity Schwarzkopf Shaping Futures, which raises money to provide hairdressing kits and training courses in Third World countries.

The game, at Thomson Park in Lochee, will see the Dundee FC Legends square up against the 2003 Scottish Junior Cup-winning Tayport FC team.

The Dundee FC side will be managed by Gary Harkins and his team will include Rab Douglas, Lee Wilkie, Colin Hendry, Steven Tweed, Mark Fotheringham and Barry Smith.

Rhys is the owner of Coloured Soul Salon’s three stores i n Tayport, Broughty Ferry and the city centre.

The 26-year-old has organised charity games in previous years but hopes this year will be bigger and better.

He said: “In past years, we have held opportunity to go out to Third World countries and teach hairdressing courses. He added: “I have been to Jordan twice and India once.

“Next week, I will be flying out to Mumbai which I am really excited about.

“The charity’s work allows people to gain skills that they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to learn before.

“I am still in contact with a lot of the students I taught in India and they all message me to let me know how they are getting on.

“Almost all of the trainees from India are still working in hairdressing. “It is just so rewarding giving these people this opportunity.”

The match will be played on Sunday with the kick off at 1pm.

Entry to the match is free for children and adults are asked to make a donation on the gate.

For only £10, the public can buy a hospitality ticket which includes food after the match and a chance to meet the players.
