Police prepare to quiz suspect over crossbow killing

- By JON BRADy

POLICE were today waiting to question a suspect over the killing of a Dundee man with a crossbow.

The Tele can reveal that a young man was detained at the scene of Sunday night’s incident at Dundonald Court in which Gordon Diduca (pictured), also known as Gordon Adams, 23, died.

However, officers are having to wait for the chance to interview the suspect while he receives treatment for injuries believed to have been sustained in the same incident.

Nobody has been charged over the death, which police are treating as suspicious.

The force refused to confirm any further details today, stating only that they were following positive lines of inquiry. Mr Diduca died after being shot with the crossbow during a disturbance late on Sunday night. The scene remained cordoned off today as police continued their investigation, with floral tributes left nearby. Yesterday, forensics officers searched t he grounds at the block of flats where the disturbance had taken place. Members of Mr Diduca’s family were too upset to speak when approached today, but friends and family have paid tribute to the labourer online. The tragedy is the second to hit the family this year after Mr Diduca’s mum Janice died earlier this year aged 48 after a battle with cancer.

At the time, Mr Diduca told the Tele: “She fought to the last breath. She was incredible. When she was told she had two months to live she took it head-on.”

A fundraising page has now been set up to pay for Mr Diduca’s funeral, looking to collect £500 for the cause.

A statement posted on the page said: “We are doing this for our brother so he has a send-off he deserves.

“Our family all pitched in for our mum’s funeral and we’re left with no choice but to ask for help. All is appreciated. He was a young loyal man that just made you laugh. He did have a soft spot. RIP (you) will be missed Gordon.”

Dozens of tributes were posted on his Facebook page.

Shannon Coughlin wrote: “You will be well and truly missed Gordon. Taken far too soon, never told you enough how much I appreciate you and how well you done for yourself.

“My heart goes out to all the family. I’m honestly lost for words, heaven gained another angel, love you bro.”

Stevie Leigh Whitton said: “Actually can’t believe I’m even writing this status, was with you less than 24 hours ago. RIP big man you will be missed.”

Dylan Queen wrote: “I seriously don’t know what to say right now, still in shock, saw you only a few hours ago and now you’re gone.

“I had so many great memories with you bro, you’re at rest now and will be missed so much. Love yi bro.”
