Care worker cleared
Panel finds no evidence in support of allegations
A FORMER care worker has spoken of her relief after being cleared of mistreating two elderly residents at a home in Dundee.
Dorota Fedczyszyn, 44, faced misconduct charges while working at St Margaret’s Residential Home, off Victoria Road.
She was accused of causing distress to residents AA and BB during two separate incidents in January 2016.
But she was cleared by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) following a hearing.
The Stobswell resident revealed she suffered hair loss because of the stress caused by the allegations.
Until recently, she was working for Ancrum Electronics until it closed earlier this month.
Speaking to the Tele, Ms Fedczyszyn said she was thrilled the panel found she had done nothing wrong.
She said: “It’s a big relief for me. I had to finish my degree and my dissertation at Abertay during this time. I was losing my hair because it was all so stressful.
“It affected my physical and mental health. This is a massive weight off my shoulders.”
Ms Fedczyszyn was accused of causing pain and distress to a male and female resident on January 14 and January 26 respectively.
A report found the panel had “concerns” about the evidence presented by home manager who “appeared to lack objectivity” and seemed to “embellish her evidence”.
The report stated: “In the course of his submissions, the presenter accepted that there was no evidence that you had forced BB to get out of bed against her wishes, that you had failed to offer BB breakfast and generally that your actions had caused distress to BB.
“Although not conceded by the presenter, it was the view of the panel that there was no evidence of you having forced AA to do anything either.
“These concessions and views of the panel, taken with the comments above, further support the decision of the panel that the SSSC has failed to prove the allegations.”
Ms Fedczyszyn added:“I would not do these things to anybody.
“They didn’t give me an opportunity to give my side. I don’t know what they were trying to achieve. “I’m glad the panel saw my side.” Staff at St Margaret’s Residential Home declined to comment.
