‘If it’s rubbish who cares? Just get win’

SATURDAY’S top-of-thetable clash with high-flying Dunfermline has already been billed as the game of the season.

However, Dundee United winger Paul McMullan doesn’t care if “it’s a cracker or rubbish” as long as his side grab what would be a massive result in their bid to go up.

With the Pars flying at the top of the league and knocking in 21 goals in seven games already this campaign, the Tangerines’ trip to East End Park will have all Championship eyes on it.

With the chance to leapfrog their hosts on Saturday, though, McMullan is keen to see United carry on where they left off at the weekend in their 2-1 victory over Morton.

He said: “I’ve said before it is coming together and was always going to be a matter of time with so many new players.

“I think everyone could see on Saturday it’s getting a lot better and I think there’s still more to come from us.

“It was a step in the right direction and a good three points for us.

“The last few weeks we’ve played 4-4-2 and we’ve just been trying to get our shape and be difficult to beat before building from that.

“I think you can see it is coming. We didn’t give away too many chances on Saturday and we played some really nice stuff, so it is really pushing on nicely.”

The diminutive winger linked up well with the front pairing of Scott McDonald and James Keatings as well as Billy King on the other side of the park.

And he feels what United showed against Morton is a taster of what’s to come as the season progresses.

“I enjoyed it, we played some really good stuff and it’s always fun to be part of games like that.

“You want to have the ball, not chasing all day, and we had a lot of the ball on Saturday, created some really good chances which on another day could have made the scoreline a bit more flattering.
