Foster a doubt for Dons game

-

ST JOHNSTONE full-back Richard Foster is a doubt for Saturday’s away game against Aberdeen,

The former Dons, Bristol City, Rangers and Ross County player sustained a calf injury in the home win over Hamilton, which necessitated his substitution in the second half.

“We will assess the extent of the injury and, hopefully, Richard will be OK to face Aberdeen. However, at the moment, he is a doubt for the game,” said Saints boss Tommy Wright.

To m my a d d e d that Michael O’Halloran, who missed the Hamilton win due t o an ankle i njury received against Dundee, has a chance of facing the Dons.

However, Blair Alston is still out with the knock, which has bothered him for several weeks.

“Although we have had, and will have in the future, players out, we have others who can come in and do well,”Tommy went on.

“There are players hungry to nail down a firstteam place and we have a good squad which includes young players who have come in and done well.”

Steven MacLean netted his 41st top-league goal for Saints against Hamilton and the finish drew praise from Tommy who described it as “great”.

He added: “Steven has done brilliantly and his goal against Hamilton was well worked and well taken.

“The move was started by Brian Easton and it was a good ball in from Graham Cummins which Steven connected with.

“After going one down, I was pleased with our response in the second half.

“We were very positive, scored twice, and gained another important three points. Now we are looking ahead to going to Pittodrie.”
