Bereaved family’s

‘We want to ensure that some good comes of it’

- BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

A FAMILY left devastated by a double killing in a Dundee street today revealed how they plan to campaign and form a charity in their loved ones’ names.

Cousins Julie McCash, 43, and David Sorrie, 32, were killed by Robert Stratton when he knifed them both at a family vigil being held in Mid Craigie following the disappearance of relative Ralphie Smith.

Stratton was last week convicted of murdering Ms McCash and of the culpable homicide of Mr Sorrie.

Speaking to the Tele for the first time since those harrowing events back in February, Mr Sorrie’s partner Lynsey Berry, 35, and Khailey McKenzie — daughter of Ms McCash — told how Stratton had shattered their lives in just 10 minutes.

They said they believed justice had not been served after Stratton was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 23 years behind bars, saying they had “no words to describe him other than wicked”.

And the pair revealed plans to leave a positive legacy despite saying they will “never fully recover” from what happened.

Khailey said her biggest regret was that her loved ones’ names had been hauled through the mud when evidence was given at the trial, and that they had been made out to appear partly responsible for what happened.

Lynsey added: “Julie and David’s names have been trashed. Sometimes in court it felt like they were the ones on trial. They were completely innocent of any wrongdoing.
