Residents in fear over woman with ‘air rifle’
Householders at Dudhope Court also claimed they regularly felt threatened by the behaviour of one of the residents, Jolene Shields.
Ms Shields, 37, told the Evening Telegraph that the weapon was not real.
She admitted, however, that she had posed with it for a picture which she posted on social media, but that the picture was not taken at Dudhope Court.
And she also said that she kept swords in her home — and that any weapon she had was for her “own protection”.
Ms Shields also said she would be prepared to use a weapon against someone if a situation arose where she thought it was necessary.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said Ms Shields’ behaviour had made her feel threatened.
She said: “I have reported her behaviour to the police and to the city council on a number of occasions.
“People who stay here are living in fear of Jolene Shields.”
Another neighbour said: “I keep my door locked and stay out of her way.”
But Ms Shields said that the air rifle she was photographed holding was an imitation.
She said: “The gun is not real — it’s a toy.
“The police have been to see it and I was not cautioned or charged.
“I did pose with it in a closie in Dundee and I did point it at someone, but it was a joke.”
She added: “I do have swords in my house. I keep them for my own protection. I want to feel safe in my own home.
“I would be prepared to use one if I thought I needed to.
“One is sharp enough to do damage, however, I have never at any time been outside brandishing one.
“There are people who have a grudge against me.
“This is about survival — I prefer to deal with things myself rather than go to the police.”
A Dundee City Council spokeswoman said that any incidents of anti-social behaviour would be investigated.
