Family appeals as police search for missing boy

POLICE have l aunched a major search for a 15-year-old Dundee boy who went missing at the start of the school day.

William Dixon, a pupil at Harris Academy in Perth Road, was last seen near the school at around 9am yesterday.

However, he hasn’t been seen since.

Residents reported seeing a police helicopter circling the Balgay Park, Menzieshill and West End areas of the city late last night, with its spotlight shining on t he streets below, before it was eventually stood down.

Search teams were also seen in the areas surrounding Harris Academy.

W i l l i a m ’s family and friends took to social media appealing f or his safe return.

Mike Dixon shared the police appeal on Facebook, writing: “Please share and get as many eyes on this as possible so we can bring my wee brother home.”

Another poster added: “Hope he’s found soon and safe — if any of his friends know where he can be please l et his family or police know.

“You don’t have to give your name if you think you will get in bother — please, please j ust l et someone know where he is and that he is safe.”

Michelle Dodds wrote: “William please get in touch with someone t hat you know and let them know where you are. Your family are worried sick.”

A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information to assist in tracing 15-yearold William Dixon, from the Dundee area.

“William was last seen in the area of Harris Academy, Per th Road, at 9am yesterday.

“He is described as 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with light brown hair and blue eyes.

“He was last seen wearing a maroon Harris school blazer, a white shirt with school tie, black trousers, black Nike trainers and a black Nike rucksack.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw a male matching this description or if you have any information that can assist us in tracing William, please contact Police Scotland on 101, or speak with any officer.”
