Lochee manager demanding focus

- BY JUNICUS

IN the Super League, Lochee United travel to Newtongrange and, after taking over from Penicuik as league leaders last week on goal difference, they will be going all out to hold on to the top position.

Manager George Shields was disappointed with certain aspects of their game last week against Kennoway, particularly the second-half lapse that saw them concede two goals.

The manager feels they must concentrate for the full 90 minutes if they are to be viable title contenders.

He will, once again, be without Kevin Buchan and Mark Stewart while Jamie Montgomery has been loaned out to Violet.

New Broughty Athletic manager Jim Finlayson is on home soil again this week as his side play host to Broxburn. The new boss was delighted to kick off his career at Whitton Park last week with a win over Newtongrange.

He saw enough in that display to encourage him to believe the Ferry outfit can be a force to be reckoned with in the league.

Finlayson feels t he squad needs strengthening, however, and could bring in two new players in the coming weeks.

He lists the same pool as last week and has placed midfielder Brian Clark on the transfer list.

Interested clubs should contact Jim on 07887 966741.

Carnoustie face a daunting task away to title favourites Bonnyrigg Rose.

However, manager Alan McSkimming believes he has the players who can upset the undefeated Lothian side.

They will be without Ryan Roche, Liam Scott and Luke McGeehan but are strengthened by the return of Adam Harwood from suspension.

Forfar West End have a tough call away to joint league leaders Penicuik Athletic.

All West End’s points have come on the road and they travel boosted by a 4-2 midweek friendly win over Kirrie Thistle.

Jeanfield Swifts are also on the road at Camelon, having lost just once in four previous away days.

Scott Mollison is doubtful but Fraser Mills could return following injury, while Lee Deans is available again.

Injured duo, Mark Duigan and Chris Anton, remain sidelined.
